Facebook ad boycott campaign to go global, organizers say

Image
Organizers of a Facebook Inc ( FB.O ) advertising boycott campaign that has drawn support from a rapidly expanding list of major companies are now preparing to take the battle global to increase pressure on the social media company to remove hate speech. The “Stop Hate for Profit” campaign will begin calling on major companies in Europe to join the boycott, Jim Steyer, chief executive of Common Sense Media, said in an interview with Reuters on Saturday. Since the campaign launched earlier this month, more than 160 companies, including Verizon Communications ( VZ.N ) and Unilever Plc ( ULVR.L ), have signed on to stop buying ads on the world’s largest social media platform for the month of July. Free Press and Common Sense, along with U.S. civil rights groups Color of Change and the Anti-Defamation League, launched the campaign following the death of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man killed by Minneapolis police. “The next frontier is global pressure,” Steyer said, adding t...

9 Signs a Person Likes You Even If You Don’t Think So

Image
To figure out how a person feels about you, you don’t have to be straightforward and ask them right away. It’s enough to pay closer attention to the body language of this person. Their gestures can reveal a lot about them. We delved into the articles of psychologists and found out what behavioral signs indicate that someone is not indifferent to you. At the same time, this doesn’t necessarily have to be about romantic feelings. 1. When you’re walking with someone, pay attention to the position of this person around you. If a person walks in front of you, from a psychological standpoint, this means that they care about themselves and aren’t very interested in you. If a person walks behind you, they might like you. But if they walk next to you and maintain the same pace, this is a sure sign that they like you. 2. Personal space is sacred to every person. And people who get closer to us, want to be liked by us. Subconsciously, people want to be physically clos...

People With Mental Disorders Talk About Their Lives. You Can Hardly Guess How Schizophrenia Starts

Image
There is a very radical idea that around 3 thousand years ago, all people were schizophrenics. This idea is based on the analysis of manuscripts of different cultures: people in completely different parts of the world had absolutely no connection but behaved in similar ways — they heard voices and they followed orders thinking it was their gods or muses talking to them. Today, mental health problems have become a synonym for a disability, but in fact, people who have these problems can have normal lives among relatively healthy people. You might even be friends with people who have mental health issues and not even know it. We offers you the chance to imagine being inside the minds of people with different psychological problems and understand what it means to have a mental illness. If you ever notice similar behavior among the people you know, you’ll be aware of the situations where you need to ask for help and potentially save someone’s life. ● Everyone has seen a homel...

What A Russian Scientist Did To 2 Dogs Is So Shocking, It’ll Drop Your Jaw

Image
A Soviet scientist attempted something impossible in 1959. Vladimir Demikhov tried to create a living, breathing, two-headed dog. If that sounds like science fiction, you’re not alone. Strangely enough, Demikhov actually succeeded in his quest to create a new kind of dog. During the summer of 1959, Life Magazine ran a feature on Demikhov and his work. These pictures were featured in the article, and they are outrageously bizarre. This scene of two dogs resting together doesn’t look so odd at first glance. Though, the framing of the picture is deceptive… These two dogs are actually attached at the neck, and they are alive. This is more or less the diagram for Demikhov’s creation of the two-headed dog. Demikhov had his pick of dogs from a local dog catcher. He selected a bigger dog and a smaller one to be surgically attached together. The disturbing surgery began by sed...

8 Discoveries That Raised More Questions Than Answers in the Scientific World

Image
Sometimes it seems that humanity already knows everything. It is in those very moments when new discoveries are made that turn our world and our views of it upside down. We   tell you about some finds that contributed to the understanding of the world's history but left scientists with more questions than answers. 1. The Dead Sea scrolls © israelnationalnews    The Dead Sea scrolls are one of the most important archaeological discoveries in history. During several years, scientists explored caves near the Dead Sea. They found thousands of fragments of parchment. The information that is written in these pieces of parchment is related to Hebrew Bible canon. Presently, scientists believe that it is possible to find more documents of this kind if the investigation would be continued. These scrolls are exhibited in the Israel  Museum  in Jerusalem. 2. The Animal You Spot First Says a Lot About Your Personality

Image
Our subconscious mind is incredible and can tell a lot about our personality, more than we probably think. Experts  say  that our subconscious mind is like a storage unit, which holds all of your likes and dislikes, beliefs and fears, memories and skills, it’s built from everything you have seen and experienced, even if you don’t remember it. The interesting thing is that it directly connects to our conscious behavior, and in this instance, your eyes see the full picture but your brain picks first what’s relative to you personally. We like different personality tests and quizzes. This one is just a fun test so don’t take it too seriously. Unless we got it spot on. 1.
